Tattoos

Maybe I'm over exaggerating a little but most parents I have met are not too fond of tattoos. This includes my own. Regardless of the bad reputation they have, I believe that tattoos can be so much more powerful and meaningful than they are commonly perceived to be. Most people see tattoos as that butterfly motive stamp tramp that one got during spring break. Even though this can be the case, tattoos can also be extremely emotional and powerful symbols. Tattoos have the potential to represent a feeling or a thought that you deeply connect with. They can heal, empower and motivate individuals as people often link positive feelings, memories, or experiences with them. 

I too share this belief and thus I started to design my own tattoo ideas. At first, I just did it for myself by drawing down visions I had or motives that inspire me. Soon after posting a few of my designs on social media, I had a bunch of friends asking me if I could draw one for them. It is truly an honor that individuals decided to get something permanently imprinted on their skin that I drew. What I love most about doing this for my friends is the process. I love the challenge of transforming their ideas and beliefs and turning them into something visual. Here are some of my recent designs..

48. The virus

Spending winter break at home this year was very hard. Due to the Corona crisis, Germany is now having its fourth lockdown and has remained in a state of lockdown since the beginning of December. In Texas the lockdown rules were extremely flexible and malleable, this strongly contrasted to Germany where no stores were allowed to be open apart from grocery stores, and one person was only allowed to see one other person from a different household. These rules were upheld by the police force and if not followed you could end up with a 20 000 fine or even jail. While this might sound like something taken from a movie it was a harsh reality for more than 80 million people. I often recall how I tried to explain the situation to my American friends here, but no one was truly able to imagine how horrible and strict it really was or still is. 49. Cry Baby

 As mentioned in my previous blog post, there was really nothing you could do during Corona in Germany. Thus I had to come up with unique creative ways to spend my time. As we were encouraged to leave the house as little as possible, I decided to have a DIY photoshoot in my room. While the pictures that I took looked good and cool they weren't as artsy as I would have liked them to be. Evidently, my room isn't a professional photo studio and unfortunately, I don't have the props or the equipment to turn it into one. Instead, I decided to use the photos I took and manipulate them via Photoshop in order to give them a cool, artsy, and aesthetic appeal. This was one of the results... I tried to make it look as if it was taken out of a fashion magazine or as if it was a Poster.
